Dear Family

My Dear Beautiful Amazing Tiny Little Family,

Today is a Tuesday.  We have been a family of 3 persons for a very short amount of time (only 7 weeks) and a family of 2 persons for just a little while longer.  I am your mother and your wife.  Your protector and your friend.  Your fiercest defender, your loudest cheerleader, your finder of lost things, and the one of us who really, really needs a nap.

I want you to know how much I love you.  How blessed I am to be a founding member of our little tribe.  How happy I am to wake up sandwiched between you two in the mornings and fall asleep sandwiched between you two at night.

Just a few short (short!) years ago, I thought having a Beautiful Amazing Tiny Little Family was something fantastic that happened to other people, but not to me.  And that was ok.  I had a lovely little (quiet) life where I slept through the night (with dogs) and counted "cereal" as "dinner" more often than other people might be comfortable with.  I had great friends, a wonderful family, a good job, and lived in a lovely little corner of the world that covered itself with Wisteria every spring.

One lovely sunny summer day, all of that changed when I found a grammatically correct man who loved dogs.  Within a matter of months I had met you, fallen madly in love with you, and moved to be with you.  The best decision of my life.  And even if I get to be on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and it's the last question and I have to pick between two answers, and I choose correctly, loving you will still be the best decision of my life.  You are the best protector, provider and partner I could have ever hoped for.  Our life together isn't always an easy life, but it is ours and we are together.  And that makes it a great life.

One lovely sunny summer day, our great life changed again and JD joined us here.  With his 10 perfect tiny fingers and 10 perfect tiny toes (and impressively sized head), his arrival brought another level of chaos we had not anticipated to our great life.  The bonding has been gradual and strong, the lack of sleep has been immediate and life-altering. The level of love (and chaos) in our little home is truly palpable and we are truly blessed.  A great life indeed.

So my Beautiful Amazing Tiny Little Family this is the beginning of my love letter to you. Thank you for such an amazing life.

Love You MORE,
Kate (aka Mom)
